While out on a run to Walmart, I decided to venture into the makeup section per usual.
I was glancing over at the Hard Candy section, and I noticed they had a purple mascara on display.
I have wanted to test out purple mascara for quite a while now, and I thought now is as good of a time as ever.
I have read online before that purple mascara makes blue eyes look bluer, so I was very eager to test this out.
I am not very familiar with Hard Candy as a brand, which made me particularly interested in seeing how this product would perform.
From my research and my own observations, the brand seems to be a drugstore version of Urban Decay.
The mascara I picked out is called the Dare to Extend Ultimate Mascara in the shade Royal Treatment. It retails for $6.96, and it is a cruelty-free product.
The mascara also comes in dark green, royal blue and jet black.
The back of the box said, “Uses Korean fiber technology to hug each lash for maximum length + 360º volume. Separating brush grabs each lash, evenly extending + adding volume from root to tip.”
The box also said the product conditions lashes with shea butter, which I found to be interesting.
The packaging overall was pretty bland, but it wasn’t horrible by any means.
The mascara itself seemed to have a normal to thin consistency.
I personally felt as though the brush applicator applied the mascara fairly well. I am used to using a curved brush, but this brush separated my lashes with ease. It was also easy to get rid mascara clumps.
As for the color, I feel like it definitely stands out in person. However, when taking photos of my lashes, it is a bit hard to notice the color.
However, I really do enjoy the subtleness of the purple. I think it is super cute when paired with a pink/purple eye look, or even on its own to spice up the way your eyes look without a bunch of effort.
I personally feel pretty indifferent on whether or not the product made my blue eyes bluer.
Honestly, I don’t think it changed much.
Overall, I think this mascara is pretty cute. It lasts super long without making your lashes look crusty, and it didn’t smudge at all throughout the day while wearing it.
The mascara feels lightweight after application, and I pretty much forget I’m even wearing it.
For about $7.00, I’d say it’s a pretty good product, and I will be trying more Hard Candy products in the future.
