There is a love\/hate relationship when it comes to screen adaptations of books. They can be good sometimes, but bad most of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issue with turning books into movies is that the movies aren\u2019t long enough. There isn\u2019t enough time to put the whole book into 2 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had a conversation the other day and the person told me \u201cI wish that they would just make them into shows instead\u201d. I completely agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we are going to get a screen version of our favorite books they should be television shows. Even if it is just one book it could be a limited series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There would be enough time to tell the whole story of the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A book that worked well as a t.v. adaptation was \u2018The Summer I Turned Pretty\u2019. This follows a teenage girl who finds herself in a situation with her life long best friends after they notice she becomes more attractive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each book is it\u2019s own season. It allows for more details of the book to be given on screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is different than say Harry Potter. Although the movies tend to be more viewed than the books they don\u2019t give the books justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is so many details missing from the books in these movies. Things like certain backgrounds of important characters<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is also the rare occasion when the movie was better than the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One situation of this is \u2018Where the Crawdads Sing\u2019. This book is about a girl who grew up in the marsh who was accused of murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The movie was amazing. It was interesting and you wanted to just keep watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After reading the book though, I was very disappointed and so were many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The book dragged on and was kind of boring. It was still good but it was hard to want to keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do think that reading the books are important before watching the screen adaptation. When doing this though you will almost never be satisfied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
