Eager to get my face clear and acne-free again, I tried just about everything and learned a few things along the way. The most challenging aspect of skincare is that everyone has different skin types, making it difficult to find what works best for you. It’s a process, don’t lose hope! Here are a few skincare products that will help build a good base for your face, and tips that are beneficial for all skin types! Developing A Routine: Throughout my skincare journey, I have developed a routine that I created for myself that has helped my skin regain its power. Below in step-by-step order is my skincare routine that I follow morning and at night. Cleanser – Cleanses the oil and dirt buildup. Toner- Tightens pores and balances the skin’s pH level. Vitamin C Serum- Brightens and evens skin tones. Moisturizer- Hydrates your skin. At night only, I apply an eye cream that helps moisturize and brighten the skin around my eyes. The skin around our eyes is thinner than in other areas of the body, so it’s important to retain moisture. Ditch The Washcloth: Purchase disposable face towels. This prevents germs from your washcloth transferring onto your face after cleansing. This helps minimize germs on your face that can clog pores and create blemishes. Wash cloths can build up bacteria fast, and even after washing still not at its full clean potential. If purchasing disposable face towels doesn’t fit your budget, ensure that you wash or replace your washcloth every few days. Ice Is Your Friend: After your skincare routine, and your face is fresh, cool your face. I use an ice roller that I keep in my freezer to ice roll my face. Ice rolling your face is soothing but also helps reduce redness, decreases early morning puffy face, and can help shrink pores. Alternatives to practicing ice rolling your face can be an ice cube by rubbing it in small circles around your face. You can also place your face in a bowl of ice water. For my eyes, I use eye pads that can be cooled in the freezer or warmed in the microwave. I freeze the eye pads and use them to reduce puffiness. Both of these ice methods are soothing, relaxing and beneficial. I hope this was helpful, and maybe you learned something, or got motivated to get into a routine!
</oembed>
